These other resources are also available to help with your training:
The Inspector of Turns section extracted from the Referee Training Notes.

When using these Training Notes:

  • Highlighted sections are the relevant parts that Inspectors of turns must know.
  • The Rules of Swimming must also be consulted.
    • Please go to Swimming NSW | Resources | Governing Documents | Swimming NSW Rules and learn rules SW4 to SW10 inclusive (Swimming NSW Rules Pages 35-40).
    • See also the General Comments of Rule SW2 (Swimming NSW Rules Page 29).
    • See also the dutes of Inspector of Turns (SW2.5) (Swimming NSW Rules Pages 24-25).

Qualification as an Inspector of Turns is to be considered the beginning of training as a Referee. After Inspector of Turns, the next credential is Judge of Strokes followed by Referee. A thorough knowledge of the Rules of Swimming is required when for these positions. Learning the rules when becoming an Inspector of Turns will be extremely advantageous as they are the basis for all decisions by these officials.
